Finger Posts

We use only English not European oak. (Most of it bought from a National Trust property in East Anglia which has FSC certification) As part of our commitment towards a sustainable environment we plant an oak tree for every order received.  Our replanting scheme was initiated through a partnership with Woodland Heritage  whose patron is HRH the Prince of Wales. We are very proud of the fact that we have already had planted over a thousand trees since the scheme started, and now feel we have been able to "put something back"  All the fingers are made from first quality, selected quarter sawn, English oak centre boards, which are morticed, tenoned and pegged into the post.  The post will be attractively stop chamfered and have a four-way pyramid top and treated with 2 coats of Tung oil or alternatively can be left ‘untreated’ which will encourage it to weather-down more quickly.  The posts can either be supplied with a heavy duty stove enamelled steel socket which is then concreted into the ground or as a longer post to be concreted directly into the ground. All our lettering is hand carved, (it is not machine engraved) by a master carver who has work in Windsor Castle & 10 Downing Street which together with other design features covered in the brochure, makes our products particularly suitable for environmentally sensitive sites and conservation areas.

Metal sockets (not met posts but heavy duty box section) which is painted, powder coated and baked with black enamel paint.  The socket is concreted into the ground and held in place with stainless steel coach screws.  By using this method the oak post doesn't come into contact with the ground and therefore cannot rot.
